Weldy Math Solutions

Sharon Weldy,

Math Teacher/Tutor

ABOUT ME

Alternative education requires a special teacher who can bring something unique to the table. I have 15 years of experience in alternative schools, serving in a wide variety of roles, including: math teacher, department chair, academic dean, and school principal. Each new role has provided me with a wealth of growth and development as an educator, for which I am extremely grateful.

I am absolutely passionate about empowering students in mathematics by providing them with a conceptual framework for understanding each topic. This approach frees students to reason logically, develop intuition,  and find their own creative approaches to problem solving. It also produces much more joy and confidence in the learning process. I am dedicated to quality education and will bring students through these programs with personal attention and love

“It was your 7th and 8th grade math classes which instilled in me both a love for math and a lifelong passion for learning in general. Your love and energy for the beautifully simple and delicately complex in mathematics, combined with your caring nature leads students far further than just being able to give answers to problems.”

Algebra

Algebra is a yearlong core class involving the study of expressions, equations, functions, inequalities and their graphical representations. Emphasis is placed upon linear and quadratic equations, including systems of two linear equations. Students will also begin to explore radical equations, linear inequalities, inverse and exponential functions, and equations involving absolute value. Students will learn to approach problems conceptually and think critically.
